Mom & Dad Callahan Visit

Wednesday, January 28th, 2004

Heather’s mom and dad were up to visit last weekend and stayed with us. Saturday Heather and I ran around doing stuff, looking at houses and had dinner at Hard Times. Was really nice to have dinner out together.

Sat and Sun Dad C. and I took pups to the dog park. Sunday there was a soccer ball there that Sailor was very interested in. Dad, some other guy and I stood in a triangle and kicked the ball around while sailor tried to intercept it. I don’t think he’s gotten that much exercise in a long, long time. For that matter, I’m not sure I’ve gotten that much exercise in a long , long time either. We stopped a couple times because we were worried that Sailor was overdoing it, but both times he stood over the ball and barked at us until we started kicking it again.

Sun evening after Mom & Dad had left, Heather, Fiona, the dogs and I hung out down in the basement watching tv and playing on the activity mat. Fiona finally rolled over when we were around to see it! She had rolled over before at daycare and also in the crib at home, but never when Heather or I was around to see.

She couldn’t quite get back over, so I helped her roll back onto her back. Heather and I looked to the TV for a minute because there was some cool show about the pyramids on, and when we looked back down she had rolled over again! God help us when she can actually crawl then walk – I doubt that Heather or I really appreciate the amount of work that’s going to be. I can’t wait :-)

House Refinancing

Wednesday, January 28th, 2004

We closed on our house refinancing today. Up until today my name was the only one on the deed, so I’ve been able to threaten Heather that I was going to “boot her butt out” whenever she stepped out of line, but no longer. :-)

Took all of about 25 minutes. The attorney was this really nice guy who lives near us. We talked about what a great spot Del Ray/Rosemont is and property prices and homeowner stuff like that. Got a free pen too.

Mom & Dad Stevens Visit

Tuesday, January 20th, 2004

Mom and Dad were here visiting over the 3 day weekend. Okay, well, _some_ folks had a nice long weekend while others of us didn’t. Not that I’m bitter.

Anyway, we had a great time. Mom and Dad got to hear Fiona laugh, which she has been doing more and more of. Dad and I brewed beer Sunday afternoon which was fun. Need to come up with a good name for it before bottling time.

Met for lunch Monday at La Piazza near Braddock metro station. Such good food. Mmmmm…. Fiona was an angel the whole time.

Fiona Sick

Tuesday, January 20th, 2004

Fiona has been since Friday or so. Mostly just congested, and we thought she was over it, but it seems like maybe her ears are infected now. Heather has her at the pediatricians this afternoon.

Turns out that sick babies don’t sleep much. Turns out that parents of sick babies don’t sleep much either :-(
