It’s here!! It’s here!! The furniture is here!!!!

Now, if only it’s the RIGHT furniture…and if only we can get it covered before Sailor sleeps on it…:)

Jenn and Ryan’s wedding was

Monday, October 15th, 2001

Jenn and Ryan’s wedding was beautiful. It was strange going to the first wedding after ours, but in a wonderful way. I remember the last wedding before ours, we hadn’t been engaged very long and we were just struck by the vows, hearing them as if they were ours and just grinning like idiots at each other. This time we were struck by how much work had gone into it and we were able to just have fun with our friends, which was nice. Now we all need a non-event get-together so we can all just relax and talk and really catch up.

So back to the wedding. The ceremony itself was quite short, and the reception site was gorgeous!!! Collingwood was part of George Washington’s estates and still has an old house on it and a long yard that reaches the river. Beautiful. We all had a great time dancing to the 80s tunes that the DJ played. The flowers were very pretty in fall colors, the bride was beautiful and so were her attendants. I have seldom seen a more excited and happy groom (next to mine, of course!) and Jenn’s dad gave a very touching toast about things he remembered from her life. Very very nice!

We got a call from

We got a call from Value City this morning saying our furniture will be delivered tomorrow. I’m skeptical, but hopeful at the same time. Heather and I had just decided that we’d give them one more week to come up with the goods before we cancelled the order. Todd is going to take our current couch for his basement. Hopefully we’ll have things all straightened away furniture-wise by the time our parents come out this weekend.

Last night was Ryan and Jenn’s wedding rehearsal and dinner. Though we’re not in the wedding, they graciously invited us to the dinner at The Old Ebbitt Grill in DC. Dinner was great, we were seated with Tim, Christine, Mark, Laura, Paul (Ryan’s roommate), and Sue Baker. Afterwards we migrated to the Chesapeake Grill, a lounge at the top of the Hyatt in Crystal City, just up the road from Del Ray. Ran into Eric and Toni there. Heather and I were both pretty tired (H hadn’t been feeling well, and I’m still recovering from my cold) so we didn’t stay very late. We’re all going out for lunch today in a little bit – probably the new Baja Fresh at Pentagon Row. (Pentagon Row is a new mall built next door to the Pentagon City mall.) Wedding is at 4:00 today at a church here in Alexandria.

Tim and Christine got into town yesterday and stayed at our place. This evening we’re all going to Ryan and Jenn’s rehearsal dinner at the Old Ebbitt Grill in DC. Afterwards they’ve reserved the bar at the top of one of the hotels in Crystal City. Should be fun.

I was home yesterday with a sore throat and headache. Read a lot more of Lord of The Rings. Spent some time on the job search. Slept a lot.

Heading out now to run some errands before a phone interview at 4:00. The company is Digital Harbor and they sound pretty interesting. Some of the head honchos at the company are ex WordPerfect folk, and Digital Harbor once sold my favorite word processor of all time, WAV. I guess this position involves managing a group of 6-8 other developers and reporting to the Director of Engineering. Sounds interesting, I’m a little nervous about the interview. I interview much better in person than on the phone.

Value City Furniture Sucks!!!! Does

Value City Furniture Sucks!!!! Does it ever suck!! Once again they are pushing back our delivery date. At least the corporate office is involved now and the store manager has heard about it. Not that it helps us at all, who knows when we will see our sofa and loveseat…

So next week I will report them to every consumer advocacy group that I can find.
